Ontario ARC is looking to hire a full-time service coordinator in Canandaigua, NY. This position pays $15.35-$17.95 per hour depending on experience and offers a generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, and a 401K plan.

Ontario ARC was founded in 1954 when opportunities for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities were extremely limited. A pioneering group of parents from Geneva, NY recognized this issue and through their perseverance and persistence, our agency was founded. Today, we've successfully grown to offer over 40 wide-ranging and innovative services for hundreds of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.

A Day in the Life as a Service Coordinator
As a service coordinator at Ontario ARC, you start each day ready to make a positive difference in the lives of those you serve. You assist individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in meeting their immediate needs while promoting long-term self-advocacy, self-direction, and informed choice.


You assist them to find the services that best meet their particular needs. You help in accessing programs, services, and funding supports like Social Security and other government benefits. You then help the individuals and their families navigate through the complicated paperwork.


You advocate on behalf of the individuals and their families for supports through schools and other such community entities. You assist in the transition from school-based services to adult services. You also help connect them to new opportunities such as residential options, vocational and day services, and various other community-based activities.

Part of your time is spent traveling to meet with individuals who live independently, with family, or in group home settings. And, part of your time is spent in the office making phone calls, doing paperwork, and completing necessary documentation. You facilitate program reviews, develop the individual service plans, and maintain documentation of the actions taken on behalf of each individual.

Your ability to develop individualized service plans which take the whole person into consideration while keeping in compliance with all policies and regulations helps make our services successful. You enjoy the variety of people and locations you get to interact with each day. And, you go home each evening feeling great about the work you do and the difference it makes in the lives of so many in our community.


Qualifications
* Bachelor's in a healthcare or human services field
* Experience working as a service coordinator with any population
* Reliable means of transportation
* Knowledge of community resources and program option

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a typical Monday through Friday 40 hours/week schedule.
